  • Overview

    Looking for a Research Scientist that has a passion for developing new products related to industrial applications such as mineral flotation reagents, fertilizer coatings, and additives for asphalt road paving.  Primarily laboratory work, but also some limited field work. Lab work will be focused on the synthesis of new products and conducting performance evaluations for existing and potential new business areas for the company. ArrMaz has synthetic production expertise in synthesis of amides, imidazolines, esters and sulfonation of various organic molecules. In this role you will help to expand these capabilities. This position is full time and requires some overtime and weekend work.


    • Project Management: Create, plan and execute a technical portfolio platform from concept to commercial launch.
    • Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS): Perform safety audits both inside and outside of the technical organization.
    • Intellectual Property: Develop an intellectual property strategy that will protect the value of the ArrMaz portfolio of patent filings.
    • Leadership: Lead large Innovation Project Teams including team members that are outside of Technical.
    • Presentations: Present to customers and at external conferences.
    • Communication: Accurately document all work and communicate results to project team and others either verbally or written.
    • Customer Processes: Fully understand how our products work in customer processes.
    • Manufacturing Support: Fully understand our manufacturing capabilities.
    • Perform research in assigned areas and collaborate alongside other researchers.
    • Develop laboratory tests and analytical procedures.
    • Develop new products / solutions for customer base.
    • Interface with Sales and Marketing to introduce new products.
    • Interface with Engineering and Production staff to bring new products on line.
    • Supervise assigned technical staff.
    • Other job duties, as assigned.
    • Limited travel, as necessary.


    • Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or related sciences, highly preferred.
    • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Organic Chemistry or related sciences, required.
    • A minimum of five years’ experience in industrial chemistry applications, required. (8 years’ experience is required with a Bachelor’s degree.)
    • Experience in setting up and supervising a lab, preferred.
    • The ability to manage projects, required.
    • Experience working at a large corporation, preferred.

    Physical Requirements/Working Environment:

    • Working environment is in a chemical facility. The job requires some physical work that can involve routine lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, crouching, and standing for long hours.
    • The ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs., while climbing multiple steps of stairs
    • Must be able to pass a post-offer/pre-placement drug screen, background check, and job-related pulmonary function test. (Must also follow facial hair guidelines.)
